A matrix is said to be a singular matrix if it's determinant = 0

So, let's calculate the determinant of given matrix and put that = 0

=>

4( 8 - 10 ) -x( -2(7-2x) - 18 ) + 6( 20 - 3x ) = 0

=>

32 - 40 + 14x - 4x² - 18x + 120 - 18 x = 0

=>

-4x² - 22x + 112 = 0

=>

2x² + 11x - 56 = 0

=>

x = (-11 ± √{121 + 448})/4

=>

x = ( -11 ±√569 ) / 4

=>

x = ( -11 ± 24 ) /4

=>

x = 13/4 OR x = -35/4
