R1 = R2 = R3 = R4 = R5 = 2 ohm

The effective resistance of 1st pair of resistors connected in parallel =

1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2

1/R = 1/2 + 1/2

1/R = 1/1

R = 1 ohm. (1)

The effective resistance of 2nd pair of resistors

connected in parallel =

1/R = 1/R3 + 1/R4

1/R = 1/2 + 1/2

Similarly R = 1 ohm (2)

Total resistance in the circuit =

R(1) + R(2) + R5

= 1 + 1 + 2 = 4 ohm

Therefore The effective resistance of the circuit

= 4 ohm
