First apply distance formula
[(0-sin(a)/2)^2)+(cos(a)/2-0)^2)]^1/2
=[(sina /2)^2+(cos a/2)^2]^1/2
=[1/4{sin^2a+cos^2a}]^1/2
=[1/4*1]^1/2. { as sin^2 a+ cos^2 a=1}
=1/2
[(0-sin(a)/2)^2)+(cos(a)/2-0)^2)]^1/2
=[(sina /2)^2+(cos a/2)^2]^1/2
=[1/4{sin^2a+cos^2a}]^1/2
=[1/4*1]^1/2. { as sin^2 a+ cos^2 a=1}
=1/2
