Step-by-step explanation:

By determinant formula

| 1 y | = 12

| 4. x |

= (1× x) - (y × 4) = 12

= x.- 4y = 12

= x - y = 12/ 4

= x - y = 3 ...... (1)

|-1. 2| = 6

|y. x |

=(-1 × x) - (2× y) = 6

= -x - 2y = 6

= -x-y = 6/2

= -x -y = 3......(2)

By adding eq. (1) and (2)...

=(x-y= 3) + (-x-y=3)

= -2y = 6

= -y. = 6/2

= -y. = 3

= y. = -3...... (3)

substitute eq. (3) in eq. (1)

.

.

=x - y = 3

= x -(-3) = 3

= x + 3 = 3

= x = 3-3

= x = 0

therefore the solution of the given equation is (x,y) = (0,-3).
