Initially,

PE = m g x

KE =1/2 mu² - m g x

PE /KE =1/2 (given)

m g x / 1/2 mu² - mgx =1/2

2 m g x = 1/2 mu² - mgx

3 mgx = 1/2 mu²

3 x = u² /2 g

u²= 6 x g

Now,

u ' =3 u

x ' = 3 x

PE = mg (3 x)

PE = 3 m g x

KE = 1/2 m(3u)² - mg3x

KE =9/2 mu² - 3 mgx

PE /KE = 3 mg x / 9/2 mu² - 3 mgx

PE /KE =(mg) 3 x / 9u²/2g - 3 x (mg)

PE /KE = 3 x / 9u²/2g - 3 x

P E/ KE = 3 x / 9 (6xg )/ 2 g - 3 x

PE /K E = 3 x / 27 x - 3 x

PE / KE = 3 x / 24 x

PE / K E = 1 /8
