  • 0.0056 D when relaxed since DIA of the  eye lens is 2.3cm and we know that radius of a lens is twice its focal length.....and 1/f in metres = power
  • and when stretched 4 D............here v= probably infinity and u=25cm......hence f=25 cm then by formula power= 4D..

1) when object is kept at infinity the ciliary muscles relax.the focal length has the maximum value that is:

u= -infinity

v=2.3 cm

1/f=1/v -1/u

1/f=1/2.3 + 1/infin

1/f=1/2.3+0

f max=2.3 cm

2) when an eye is closer to the object ciliary muscles strain.the focal length decreases.

u= -25 cm

v=2.3 cm

1/f=1/v-1/u

1/f=1/2.3 +1/25

=10/23+1/25

1/f=250+23/575

f=2.1 cm

3) if the position of the object is btw infinity and point of least distance of distinct vision thn the eyelens adjusts its focal length in btw 2.3 and 2.1 which gives a clear vision...
