  • WHEN METALS REACT WITH OXYGEN, A BASIC OXIDE IS PRODUCED.
  • EQUATION- METALS+ OXYGEN= METAL OXIDE
  • AN EXAMPLE OF THIS EQUATION OF MAGNESIUM.

          mg (magnesium) + oxygen= mgO ( magnesium oxide)

  • equation - metals+ water = hydrogen gas+ hydroxides.
  • an example of this equation with Sodium metal:-
