 and Son's age be = y

After 14 years from now,

    Father's age be =x+14,

   Son's age be = y+14,

so according to question,

 

>>  x + y = 60

>>   x = 60 - y   .........(1)

>> x+14 = 3 (y+14)  = >>     x-3y+14-42=0  >>   x - 3y-28=0     .......(2)

putting (1) in (2) we get,

>>     [ 60- y ] - 3 y = 28

>>     -4 y = 28 - 60

>>    -4 y = -32

>>     y = 8

hence ,

     x = 60 - 8 =>> 52

so,

   >> age of father is = 52

   >> age of son is = 8

After 14 years ages be,

      >>   age of father be = 52+14 =66

     >>   age of son be = 8+14 = 22
