◇FUNCTIONS OF NEPHRON :

☆Nephron is the filtering unit found in kidney.

☆It is a long coiled tubule , whose one end is connected to the double walled cup - shaped structure called BOWMAN 'S CAPSULE and other end is to a urine collecting duct .Bowmans capsule contains a bundle of blood capillaries known as glomerules .

1. Glomerules filters the blood passing through it .
2. It also ensures to remove only harmful substances from the body that include nitrogenous materials.
3. Some substance like K+ are actively secreted into the urine through the tubule.
4. The collecting duct collects the urine and passes to ureter .

◇PROCESS OF RESPIRSTION IN HUMAN BEINGS :

☆NOSTRILS : Air is taken into the body through nostrils that filter air by the fine hair that line it .

☆NASAL PASSAGE : Air entering from nostrils leads to the nasal passage , it is responsible for conditioning of air .

☆PHARYNX : Nasal chamber opens into it.

☆LARYNX : It is located in the neck and protect the trachea . It produces sound .

☆TRACHEA OR WINDPIPE : It divides into smaller tubes on entering the thoracic cavity which further extends into lungs .

☆BRONCHIOLES : Bronchi are subdivided into smaller tubes called bronchioles.

☆ALVEOLI : These are balloon like structure located inside the lungs , It increases the surface area for the exchange of gases .

☆RIBS : These are 12 pairs of bones that form a cage in which lungs and heart are safely placed .

☆LUNGS : These are primary organs for respiration which are located on the two sides of heart . They transport O2 from atmosphere to blood and release CO2 from blood to atmosphere. They are enclosed by membrane called PLEURA.

☆DIAPHRAGM : It is a muscular partition between thorax and abdomen and forms the base of the chest cavity .

◇ AEROBIC AND ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION

■AEROBIC RESPIRATION :

☆Occurs in presence of oxygen , releasing large amount of energy.

☆Each glucose molecules produces 38 molecules of ATP .

☆Begins in the cytoplasm and continues in the MITOCHONDRIA . e.g. in animals and plants .

■ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION :

☆ Occurs in absence of oxygen , releasing relatively small amount of energy .

☆Each glucose molecule produce 2 molecules of ATP .

☆Occurs only in cytoplasm .e.g. Anaerobic bacteria and yeast .

◇TRANSPORT OF WATER AND MINERALS IN PLANTS :

☆ Xylem tissues of plants have interconnected network of vessels and tracheids of roots , stems and leaves.

☆They form continuous system of water conducting channels system of water conducting channels .

☆At roots , cells in contact with the soil actively takes up ions creating a difference in the concentration of these ions between the root and soil.

☆There is a steady movement of water into root xylem from the soil that creates a column of water pushing it upwards.

☆The transport of soluble products of photosynthesis from leaves to other plant parts of the plants is termed as TRANSLOCATION .

☆It occurs through part of vascular tissue known as phloem that also transports amino acids and other substances .

☆Translocation takes place in the sieve tubes with help of adjacent companion cells, both in upward and downward directions .

◇TRANSPORTATION OF BLOOD TO ALL PARTS OF BODY :

☆Arteries and veins are the blood vessels which help in transportation of blood .

☆Arteries : It carries oxygenated blood to all parts of the body , since the blood flow is rapid and is in high pressure the arteries have thick elastic walls . The arteries divide into smaller and smaller vessels called capillaries .

☆Veins are those vessels which carry oxygenated blood from all parts of the body to heart . It have thin walls. There are valves which allow blood to only flow to the heart.

hope it helps u dear ^_^

Answer:

Explanation:

1. Respiration involves taking in oxygen and release of carbon dioxide by the process of breathing.

The taken oxygen is the utilised to oxidise chemical energy stored in the food to released energy in the form of ATP along with carbon dioxide and water. Respiration involves exchange of gases i.e. oxygen with carbon dioxide.

Respiration in human beings takes place through a special system called as respiratory system. This involves nostrils, nasal cavity, larynx, bronchi, bronchioles ending in alveoli.

2.The xylem transport the water and phloem transport the minerals. This transport is taken place to the other parts of the plant by creating the pressure in root cells which pump up the water and minerals. Answer: The plants take in water (containing dissolved minerals) from the soil through their roots
