Answer:

1)The atomic number of sodium is 11 (Z=11). The electronic configuration of sodium can be written as 2, 8, 1. 2, 8, 1 electrons are distributed in the shells K, L, M respectively. Therefore, valence electron in sodium is 1 and it needs to lose 1 electron from the outermost orbit to attain octet. Hence, the valency of sodium is 1.

2)For conduction of electricity, through any material two conditions are necessary. First condition is potential difference and second free charge carriers which can be accelerated by potential difference.

Wood and glass do not have such charge carriers so they can not conduct electricity. Hence, wood and glass are good insulators.

3)W = FS CosO

Where O is angle between force and displacement

In circular motion is 90° hence work done by force is zero.

Answer:

1) The valency of an element depends upon the number of electrons in its outermost shell. Since sodium has only one electron in its outermost shell therefore its valency is 1.

2) For conduction of electricity, through any material two conditions are necessary. ... Wood and glass do not have such charge carriers so they can not conduct electricity. Hence, wood and glass are good insulators

3) Work done on an object is the product of force applied and the displacement covered in the direction of force applied. ... Hence, the work done in a uniform circular motion is always zero.
