This poem is set largely set up within the parish on the British country side father gilligan is the priest in the residence there his congregation all live nearby and they had been asking for his services very often lately father gilligan falls asleep when he wakes up the setting of the poem changes to the house of a man who has died while he was sleeping all over the parish and his surroundings as warm months greet passers-by at dusk and at the dawn all the setting is very quaint
