Answer:

40 and 10

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the reciprocal of Aishwaryas age be y

and the reciprocal of Aradhyas age be x

Given

x + y =  \frac{5}{40}   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (1)

x - y =  \frac{3}{40} \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  (2)

(1)+(2) Gives

2x =  \frac{5}{40}  +  \frac{3}{40}  =  \frac{8}{40}  =  \frac{1}{5}

x =   \frac{1}{10}

(1)-(2) Gives

 2y =  \frac{5}{40}  -  \frac{3}{40}  =  \frac{2}{40}

y =  \frac{1}{40}

Hence age if Aishwarya is 40 and that if Aaradhya is 10
