Hi frnd.........
Plateau regions in india do not support agriculture as much as the plain region because-----
→Plains have fertile lands that are drained by water bodies but plateaus lack fertile soil.for example : huge deposits of fertile soil are found at the foot hills of himalayas (northern plains)
→Plains are flat level lands that are suitable for agricultural purposes whereas plateaus are highlands which are slopy and have a flat top.
→As agriculture mainly depends on fertile soil, adequate water supply, etc plains are better compared to plateaus.

Plateaus are not suitable for crop cultivation, as the climatic conditions are not suitable for the crop to grow, but that's not the case with plains they have a comparatively better climate and the other conditions required for the crop cultivation, such as:
1.Topography
2.Climate
3.Minerals
4.Rainfall
