1- The characteristics of particles of matter are: All matter is composed of very small particles which can exist independently. (ii) Particles of matter have spaces between them.

(iii) Particles of matter are continuously moving.

(iv) Particles of matter attract each other.

2-Evaporation is a surface phenomenon because, during evaporation, the molecules with higher kinetic energy dissipate into the air from the topmost layer of the liquid so it is a surface phenomenon.

3-Elements: Sodium, Silver, Tin and Silicon.

Compounds: Calcium carbonate, Methane and carbon dioxide.

Mixtures: Soil, Sugar, Coal, Air, Soap and Blood.

4-In smoke, solid particles are dispersed in air while in fog, liquid particles are dispersed in air. Fog is basically condensed water vapor. It isn't a pollutant but reduces visibility. Smoke, on the other hand, is a collection of particles that form by combustion of a material and is a pollutant.
