King Dasrath of Ayodhya had three queens: Kaushalya (mother of Ram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu), Kaikeyi(mother of Bahrat), Sumitra( mother of Lakshman and Shatrughan). On the other hand, King Janaka of Mithila found a baby girl while ploughing the ground for a ceremonial purpose and named her Sita. Few years later, his wife Sunaina gave birth to a girl Urmila. His brother Kushadwaj had two daughters Mandavi and Shrutakirti. Years later, the brothers, after completing their education, arrives at Ayodhya and Ram and Lakshman is sent to protect Sage Vishwamitra's yagna from demons. Just then, the sage received an invitation for Sita's swayamvar and he takes the two princes with him and Shri Ram wins the swayamvar and Ram and Sita gets married along with their siblings {Bharat - Mandavi, Lakshman - Urmila, Shatrughan - Shrutakirti}.
Back in Ayodhya, King Dasrath realised that he should crown his eldest son Rama as the king. But Kaikeyi brainwashed by her maid Manthara, asks Dasrath for two boons that her son Bharat should be the king and Ram should be exiled for 14 years. Ram accepts this and leaves along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman. Urmila wanted to accompany them but Lakshman hesitated and asked her to stay and take care of family. Meanwhile, Dasrath died of grief and Bharat refused to become the king.
While in the last period of their exile, Shurpnakha urges Ram to marry her, but he tells her that he is already married. Shurpanakha plans to prove herself better than Sita. She attacks Sita. Lakshmana cuts Shurpanakha's nose. She approaches her brother Ravan, the king of Lanka, who abducts Sita and urges her to marry him. Sita refuses. Ram takes the help of Sugriva and Hanuman and reaches Lanka.
Vibhishan pleads his brother Ravan to free Sita and handover her to Ram as she is someone's wife. Ravan kicks Vibhishan and considers him as his enemy. He joined hands with Ram.
Ram, Lakshman, and the monkey army reach Lanka, and Ram declares the war against Ravan and they eventually succeed in killing Ravan and moves to Ayodhya along with his companions and is crowned the king.
After being crowned king, Ram spends life pleasantly with Sita. Sita gets pregnant. Rumors about Sita's purity spread among the populace of Ayodhya. Ram banishes Sita to the forest due to the rumors. Sage Valmiki provides shelter to Sita in his hermitage, where she gives birth to twin boys Lava and Kusha. Sita raises them as a single mother but incognito under the name of Vaidehi. After 12 years, Ram decides to perform the Ashwamedha Yagna, andthe twins catch the horse of the Yagna after which a terrible battle ensues. After defeating Lakshman, Bharata, and Shatrughna as well as Hanuman, the twins are about to battle with their father, but Sita stops them and requests Ram to forgive them. She then reveals to the twins that Ram is their father, and they realize that their mother is the very Sita herself who they fought for, to to give her justice. Sita sought shelter from Bhumi Devi( Her biological mother) and goes back in her mother's womb.
After some years, Ram crowns Luva and Kusha as Kings of Ayodhya and along with his brothers - Bharat and Shatrughan drown themselves in the Sarayu river. Lakshman precedes his brothers.
