Steps for construction ;-

1.Draw a number line and a point 'O' representation O on it .

2.Take OA equal to one unit.

3.Draw AB equal to 1 unit perpendicular to OA .

4.Draw a right angle triangle OAB .

5.By Pythagoras theorem .

OB² = OA²+AB²
=1²+1²
Hence OB =root 2 .

6.Draw a circle with centre O and radius OB which cuts the number line at OB =OP= root 2.
