Solution:

➛ Let A = ( 15, 5 )

➛ Let B = ( 0, 3 )

➛ Let C = ( 14, 3 )

  • When we join point A, B, C, we will obtain one triangle as shown in the attachment.

Steps:

  • On a graph,intersecting at origin 0, draw the co-ordinate axes x0x' and y0y'.

  • With proper scale, mark the numbers on the two co-ordinate axis.

Plotting the points:

  • Starting from the origin 0 moves 15 units along the positive side of the x-axis i.e, to the right of the origin 0.

  • Now from here move 5 units that is parallel a positive direction of y-axis.

  • Place a dot at the point reached.

  • Label this as A ( 15, 5 ).

➤ Similarly plot the other points B ( 0, 3 ) and C ( 14, 3 )

  • Join these points and we will get a triangle.

Name the figure:

➛ ∆ABC

Yes, we can find out the area of figure given by using formula to calculate the area of triangle.

➤ 1/2| x₁y₂ - x₂y₁ + x₂y₃ - x₃y₂ + x₃y₁ - x₁y₃ |

Here,

  • x₁ = 0
  • y₁ = 3
  • x₂ = 14
  • y₂ = 3
  • x₃ = 15
  • y₃ = 5

Putting the values,

➤ 1/2 | (0 × 3 ) - ( 14 × 3 ) + ( 14 × 5 ) - ( 15 × 3 ) + ( 15 × 3 ) - ( 0 × 5 ) |

➤ 1/2 | 0 - 42 + 70 - 45 + 45 - 0 |

➤ 1/2 | 0 - 42 + 70 - 0 |

➤ 1/2 | 0 - 42 + 70 - 0 |

➤ 1/2 | - 42 + 70 |

➤ 1/2 × 28

➤ 14

The area of triangle or figure given = 14 sq. units
