2. Function of Glucagon are as follows :
- Glucagon decreases cellular utilisation of glucose .
- It increases hepatic glycogenolysis
- It increases the Blood Glucose level
Function of Insulin are as follows:
- Insulin increases cellular utilisation of glucose.
- It decreases hepatic glycogenolysis
- It decreases blood glucose levels
3. Pancreas is referred to as an exo-endocrine gland as it secretes both exocrine hormones responsible for digestion , and also secretes endocrine hormones like insulin and Glucagon
4. Insulin is given directly into blood stream and not orally, as insulin being a protein gets digested on the acidic environment of the stomach and it's function is lost.
5. The technical term is Islets of Langerhans.
6. Pancreas is located on the abdomen in-between the duodenum and the spleen.
