Answer:

D) Food material can't be stored in zinc/Copper/Aluminium jars as food may contain citric acid present in form of lemon juice or oxalic acid present in form of tomatoes or strawberries or spinach or rhubarb etc

These acids can react with this metal and form toxic salts which are harmful for our body

∴ Food material can't be stored in zinc/Copper/Aluminium jars.

food storage:-

  • Certain food stuffs such as citrus fruits, pickles and curd should not be stored in containers made of metals such as copper, zinc, aluminium and iron.

  • This is because these food stuffs contain acids which react with these metals to produce toxic and poisonous compounds.

  • Aluminium is malleable, soft and does not react with food items, so it is used to wrap food items.

  • Metals are good conductor of heat and electricity, so immersion rods are made up of metallic substances.

  • Aluminum and copper are generally not great for storing foods, as any contact with acids will cause discoloration and leeching, if foods are left too long in those metals.

  • If you just made a soup in a stainless steel pot, you can usually store the leftovers in the pot in the fridge once it's cooled....
