1. Ice floats because ice is 9% less dense than water. The heavier water displace the lighter ice ,so ice floats on water. Ice takes up 9% more space than water , so a litre of ice weighs less than a litre of water

10 A:The water kept in an earthen pot remain cool even in summer because earthen pot has many small holes. Water seeps out through them and evaporates from the surface of the pot. The energy needed for evaporation is taken from the water kept in the earthen pot. As a result, water kept in earthen pot become cool.
