AB is chord = 30cm and do perpendicular drone from centre to chord will be the shortest distance from centre and this perpendicular will also bisect AB at M.

So, AM = 15cm

And ED is diameter of circle centre so radius will be AO = 17cm now you can I apply Pythagoras theorem.
