The formation of new species from existing species is termed as speciation.

Factors leading to speciation are --

1) Geographical Isolation : Due to geographical barriers such as mountains, seas, etc, the flow of genes between two separated groups of population can't take place

2) Genetic drift is caused by the drastic changes in the frequencies of some specific genes by chance alone.

3) Natural selection refers to better adaption of individuals to survive in the environment. Variations in individuals is caused by natural selection.

 4) Genetic mutation refers to the permanent error in DNA that makes the gene.Mutation leads to formation of diverse species.

Geographical isolation is not a major factor in the speciation of self-pollinating plant species because the self-pollinating plants doesn't need the help of other plants for reproduction process. So a barrier like sea or mountain doesn't affect the reproduction process in self-pollinating plants.

Hope This helps You!
