PT² = PO² - OT²   [ using Pythagoras' Theorem since ∠PTO is a right angle ]

= PO² - OA²   [ OA = OT since these are radii ]

= PO² - ( ON² + AN² )

= ( PO² - ON² ) - AN²

= PN² - AN²

= ( PN - AN ) ( PN + AN )

= ( PN - AN ) ( PN + BN )       [  AN = BN since the perpendicular ON of isosceles triangle OAB bisects side AB ]

= PA . PB
