Explanation:

According to question....

we have v = 0 (since stone is thrown vertically upward)

then u = 30 m/s

and g = 10 m/s2

we have to find height i.e. (that means) h = ?

so we will use 3rd equation of motion that is :

v2 - u2 = 2gh

so on putting values we get :

0 - (30)2 = 2 x 10 x h

-900/20 = h   therefore, h = 45 m (in positive because distance cant be negative)
