Solution :

Let ,

• Present age of man = x
• Present age of grandson = y

According to question,

Man is 10 time older than his grandson

This gives,

x = 10y equation 1

Also , man is 54 year older than grandson

x = 54 + y

Put value of x from equation 1, into above equation

10y = 54 + y

10y - y = 54

9y = 54

y = 54/9

y = 6 years

Put value of y into equation 1,

x = 10(6)

x = 60 years

ANSWER :

• Present age of Man = 60 years
• Present age of grandson = 6 years
