Answer:

12.) Diameter of the circular track = 200 metres

Time taken to cover around the circular track = 40 seconds

  • Distance and displacement at end of 2 minutes 20 seconds (140 seconds) to be found

Radius of the circular track = diameter/2 = 200/2 = 100 metres

Circumference of the circular track = 2 \times \pi \times  r

Circumference of the circular track =628 metres

No. of rounds = \frac{140}{40}

No.of rounds = 3.5 rounds

Distance = 3.5×628

Distance = 2198 metres

At the end of 3.5 rounds displacement will be equal to diameter , so displacement = 200 metres

13.) Yes

If the object moves a certain distance and then again comes back to the same position the distance might not be zero but the displacement will be zero

14.) Side of the square field = 20 metres

Time taken to move around the square field = 40 seconds

  • Displacement at the end of 1 minute 40 seconds has to be found

Perimeter of the square field = 4×Side of the square field  = 4×20 = 80 metres

1 minute 40 seconds = 100 seconds

At the end of 100 seconds the farmer will cover = 100/40 = 2.5 rounds

Since it is a square field displacement = will be hypotenuse

Hypotenuse²=20²+20²

Hypotenuse²=400+400

Hypotenuse = √800 = 28.28 metres

15. a)False

b) False
