We have, PA = 8 cm, and CD = 3 cm.

AB and CD are the chords of the circle.

From the given figure, we see that OP is emerged from the centre and is meeted by two line segments AP and CP at the point P. Therefore, OP bisects angle APC.

Now, since OP bisects angle APC, therefore, the distance of AP and CP from the point P is same.

=> AP = CP = 8 cm.

Now,

DP = CP - CD

=> DP = 8 cm - 3 cm.

=> DP = 5 cm.

Similarly,

BP = 5 cm.

So,

AB = AP - BP

=> AB = 8 cm - 5 cm.

AB = 3 cm.
