understand the experiment by looking at the diagram. Take a drawing board(stiff board) and place paper and mirror as shown.mark ray P as shown with some suitable angle to normal ON . now look in the mirror in such  way that you find the reflection of the ray p in it. by looking at the mirror, draw the straight line (as if it is coming out of mirror) such a way that ray p and the newly formed ray are equal in angle with the normal that lies between them.The experiment shows the laws of reflection:1. the incident ray and reflected ray lie on opposite sides of normal. (ray p is incident ray and ray O is reflectd ray from diagram2) 2.the incident ray, reflected ray and normal lie on the same plane( i.e. they are drawn on a planar surface 2D) 3.the angle of incidence is equal to angle of reflection.
