for Eg: metals are rigid but sodium is soft metals

In case of mercury it is also a metal but it seems like a liquid

In case diamond have shiny appearence but it is a non metal

lusture is the character of metals

so, if we classify elements on the basis of physical properties thier may occur many exceptions

thus we classify elements chemically
