a) The name of the process is calcination.

Steps: 1. The ore is heated in the absence of air which gives the oxide of metal and carbon dioxide.


2. The metal oxide is then reduced using a reducing agent and pure metal is obtained.


b) The process used here is called Roasting.

Steps: 1. In this process is the ore is heated in the presence of air to give metal oxide and Sulphur dioxide.

2. Later the metal oxide is reduced to get pure metal.
