A paleontologist finds a bird fossil in a shallow layer of sedimentary rock and another bird fossil in a deeper sedimentary rock layer. Hoe might the paleontologist interpret the age of these fossils???

The one in the shallow layer was probably the latest one... as the question states, the layer of rock deposition over it was less compared to the other one so the one which was deeper was the older fossil. Another way to find this out is by using ultrasonic rays. Or radiations.
