then length will be x+6 cm

now, breadth is reduced by 2cm

then breadth become

= x-2 cm

length is reduced by 8 cm

then length become

= (x+6) - 8 cm

area = 144cm²

length × breadth = 144

(x-2)*(x+6-8) =144

(x-2)(x-2) = 144

(x-2)² = 144

(x-2) = ±12

so, x = 14, -10

dimensions in negative not possible

hence x = 14

so, original breadth is x = 14cm

original length x+6 = 14+6 = 20cm
