Answer:

The answer is (C) 6 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

If the height and the base of a triangle are 'h' units and 'b' units respectively then the area of the triangle will be A = ( h × b )/2 square units.

In this case , h = AE = 10 cm and A =  60 cm²

Then , 60 = ( 1/2 ) × 10 × BC

⇒ 10 × BC = 120

⇒ BC = 12 cm

According to the question , AD = 12 cm is a median of the triangle ABC where the point  D lies on the base BC.

Hence , D is the midpoint of BC.

∴ BD = DC

Then , DC = (1/2)( 2 × DC )

                 = (1/2)( DC + DC )

                 = (1/2)( BD + DC )

                 = BC/2 = 12/2 = 6 cm
