show x-1 is a factor of p(x)=3x^3-x^2-3x+1

if already you have given factor of given function then simplify equalise the given factor to zero.
and find the value of variable x.
as it below
x-1=0
x=1.
now put this value in above/given equation .

it would be
3(1)^3-(1)^2-3(1)+1 =0
3-1-3+1 =0
3+1-1-3=0
4-4=0.
now thats it is confirmed now that x-1 is a factor of p(x).
because it resulted in zero .
so thats it further you could factorize it by yourself !
hope I helped you a little !
thank you !
