Multiplying eq 1 by 7 and eq 2 by 2

and subtracting 2 from 1

399u + 42v = 35

- 76u + 42v = 18

= 323u = 17

u = 17/323 = 1/19

= 1/x+y = 1/19. = x+y = 19. = x=19 - y (eq 3)

put value of u in eq 1

3 + 6v = 5

v = 1/3

= 1/x-y = 1/3. = x-y = 3

19 - 2y = 3 (from eq 3)

2y =16

y = 8

x = 11
