And let 't' be the time to reach school

Now

D = v/t

X = 2/t

t = 2/X = X/2

In first case ram reached 6 min late

t = T + 6/60

t = T + 1/10

then

X/2 = T + 1/10 .....( i )

Now In second case ram reached 10 min earlier

then

t = T - 10/60

t = T - 1/6

then

X/3 = T - 1/6 ......( ii )

Now ( i ) - ( ii ) we get

X/6 = 1/10 + 1/6

X/6 = 8/30

X = 1.6 km
