• Let AB = h and BC = x.

DC = 40 m (Given)

In ∆ABC

=> tan60° = AB/CB

=> √3 = h/x

=> x√3 = h ________ (eq 1)

In ∆ABD

=> tan30° = AB/BD

=> tan30° = AB/(BC + CD)

=> 1/√3 = h/(x + 40)

=> x + 40 = h√3

=> x + 40 = x√3(√3) [From (eq 1)]

=> x + 40 = 3x

=> 2x = 40

=> x = 20

Put value of x in (eq 1)

=> h = 20√3

=> h = 20(1.73)

=> h = 34.6
