Explanation:

This is mainly due to the adaptations that certain reptiles have evolved over a long period of time but this fact is not entirely true as most reptiles, for example turtles, lay eggs on land but the tropical freshwater turtle macrochelodina rugosa

is the only one to lay eggs underwater. So reptiles may live under water but they never give eggs underwater (except for the case of turtle macrochelodina rugosa).
