we have,

A= (x+2,-2) and B= (11,6)

given: AB= 17

Apply distance formula:-

√(x+2-11)²+(-2-6)²= 17

squaring both sides; we get

(x-9)²+(-8)²= (17)²

x²+81-18x+64 = 289

x²-18x+145 = 289

x²-18x - 144=0

by splitting the Middle term; we get

x²-24x+6x-144=0
x(x-24)+6(x-24) =0
(x+6)(x-24)=0
x= -6. and x= 24 Ans
