Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction by which offspring arise from a single organism, and inherit the genes of that parent only; it does not involve the fusion of gametes, and almost never changes the number of chromosomes. ... Many plants and fungi sometimes reproduce asexually.

THIS PROCESS IS VERY COMMON IN UNICELLULAR ORGANISMS.IT IS SAID TO BE THE SIMPLIEST  OF THE TYPE OF REPRODUCTION. FOR EXAMPLE BINARY FISSION,FUSION IN AMOEBA,BUDDING IN HYDRA ,SPORE FORMATION IN RHIZOPUS.A SINGLE PARENT IS REQUIRED IN THIS KIND OF REPRODUCTION.
