were a far left marxist faction found by vladimir lenin and Alexander bogdanov that split from the Mensheviks faction of the Marxist Russian Social Democratic labour party (MRSDLP) , a revolutionary socialist party formed in 1898 at it's second party Congress in 1903 .
after forming it's party , bolsheviks in 1912 , they took power in Russia in November 1917 , overthrowing the Liberal Provisional Gov. of Alexander Kerensky and became the only ruling party in subsequent Soviet Russia, and it's successor state Soviet Union .
they considered themselves the rulers of revolutionary working class of Russia .
