so for this figure, there are 2 semicircles APB and AQO

as AO=OB=r( given)

Perimeter of shaded region = circumference of semicircle APB + circumference of semicircle AQO
40 = πr +πr/2

40 = (3πr/2)
80= 3πr
r= 80/(3π)................(1)

Now Area of shaded region = πr² + π(r/2)² = (5πr²)/4
Putting value of r from (1)
we get area of shaded region as 283.09cm²

hope this helps you

jatinchauhan615: but we can also say like that the diameter of the smaller circle is equal to the radius of
jatinchauhan615: the bigger semicircle
Vanshika08112003: but to find the area of smaller semicircle we need radius not diameter....u can also half the radius of of bigger semicircle to find the area of smaller semicircle
jatinchauhan615: Hmmm...
jatinchauhan615: but this answer is incorrect
Vanshika08112003: how
Vanshika08112003: what's the answer
jatinchauhan615: 96.25
