Ionic bonding is the bonding between a metal and a non metal

Covalent bonding is the bonding between two non metals

TheElite07: what H20 then
hdmackintosh: the sodium lost an electron and the chlorine gained and electron this makes them a ion the charges are positive for sodium because there are mor protons than electrons opposite for chlorine
hdmackintosh: Covalent hydrogen and oxygen are non metals
TheElite07: do convalent bondings split into ions..
hdmackintosh: the fluorines are sharing an electron pair
TheElite07: i m askin something else
TheElite07: okk
hdmackintosh: no they don’t also there is a third type of bonding metallic bonding the metal atoms lose an electron ( it travels around the metal to prevent it from falling apart
hdmackintosh: Any thing else
TheElite07: is there any difference between polar convalent bonds and convalent bonds..
