✔hey there!!

Given that :

=> y /1 = {√(a+2b) + √(a-2b)} /{√(a+2b) -√(a-2b)}

Now applying Componendo and divendendo :

=> y+1/y-1 = 2√(a+2b) /2√(a-2b)

=> (y+1)/(y-1) = √a+2b/√a-2b

Now squaring both sides we get,

=>( y+1)²/(y-1)² = a+2b/a-2b

By cross multiplication :

=> (y²+2y+1)(a-2b) = (y²-2y+1)(a+2b)

=>ay²-2by²+2ay-4by+a-2b =ay²+2by²-2ay-4by+a+2b

Cancel out same sign from both the sides.

=> -2by²+2ay-2b = 2by²-2ay+2b

=> now collect the like terms :

=> -4by² +4ay -4b =0

Divide by -4 we get the required result,

=> by² - ay + b (proved)
