The numbers so that after they are filled in the boxes , they fulfill all the equations .

Solution :

Let four variables be a , b , c and d .

In clockwise direction ,

a + b = 8    ......(i)

b + c = 8     ......(ii)

d - c = 6      .......(iii)

a + d = 13    .......(iv)

by solving the equations (i) and (ii) , we get ,

→ a = c  

using a=c in (iii) and (iv) , and solving it

d = 9.5

and , c = 3.5

as a = c , then , a = 3.5  

putting a = 3.5 in (i) ,

b = 4.5

a = 3.5 , b = 4.5 , c = 3.5 and d = 9.5 clockwise from top left corner according to viewer .
