plz answer fast. does metal receive electron or give electron?give a little brief answer.
Quality answer will be the brainliest
karunyap:
metals generally tend to lose electrons to attain octet/noble gas configuration. The number of electrons a metal atom can lose depends upon its valence shell electronic configuration. ex : Na atom loses one e- to turn into Na+ ion, Ca atom loses 2 e- to turn into Ca2+ ion

metal always donate electrons
or we can say that metals always loss electrons thatswhy they are called metals.
this is because
lets take an example of Na and Cl
Na have 1 electron in its outer most cell
so it is easy to loss 1 electron than to gain 7 electrons so Na loss its outer most electron and hence get positive charge and that'swhy it is a metal
for Cl
it have 7 electrons in its outer most cell
so it is easy for it to gain 1 electron than to loss 7 electrons
so it is negatively charged and hence it is a non metal
