Answer:

to rationalise the denominator we multiply both numerator and denominator by the additive inverse of the denominator , here (2 ✓5 + 3✓2)

additive inverse means if you add the additive inverse of a number to the number , the sum is zero.

this means (2 ✓5 - 3✓2) denominator plus (2 ✓5 + 3✓2) additive inverse = 0

( 2✓5 + 3✓2 )(2✓5 + 3✓2) / (2✓5 - 3✓2 )(2 ✓5 + 3✓2)

= (2 ✓5 + 3✓2) sq / (2✓5) sq - (3✓2) sq

= 20 + 18 + 12✓10 / 20 - 18

= 38 + 12✓10 / 2

= 19 + 6✓10

this implies a = 19 and b = 6

Hope this helped. Good luck!

Step-by-step explanation:

first rationalise the denominator by multiplying and dividing it with opposite sign

then after that put identity of (a+b)^2= a^2 +2ab +b^2

then solve it further till you get the 2 numbers then compare it with a+b√10
