Anonymous: 'Fraid x = 2 is not correct. Try substituting it in the original equation to check!
Anonymous: Putting x = 2 into the original equation, the LHS is 1/0 + 1/0. This is definitely not equal to 2/3 !!

Answer:

x = 0 or x = 4

Hope this helps.

Step-by-step explanation:

1 / (x-1)(x-2)  +  1 / (x-2)(x-3)  =  2/3

=>   [ multiplying everything by 3(x-1)(x-2)(x-3) ]

3(x-3) + 3(x-1) = 2(x-1)(x-2)(x-3)

=> 3x - 9 + 3x - 3 = 2x³ - 12x² + 22x  - 12

=> 2x³ - 12x² + 16x = 0

=> x³ - 6x² + 8x = 0

=> x(x-2)(x-4) = 0

=> x = 0, 2 or 4

But x = 2 cannot be a solution to the original equation since that would result in division by 0, so that just leaves the solutions:

x = 0 and x = 4
