the moon's surface is covered in dust/sand. therefore when he walked on the moon his boots left imprints in the sand. the moon has no water to wash away those imprints nor does it have an atmosphere to disturb them through blowing wind. thus there is no force to disturb them and the imprints are left undisturbed to this day.

Yes, his footprints were left 35 years and stay currently. This is because the moon has no erosion, wind or weather. Also, rocks don't get recycled like they do on Earth. Rocks from billions of years are still on the moon and his footprint also
