numerator means the upper part of fraction here we need to multiply it with a number so that we can get -12 so here if we will multiply 3 with -4 then we will get -12 . there is a rule that if we are multiplying numerator with any number we have to multiply denominator with the same number too your sum goes like what I have written in attachment hope it helps .
